Oh well I like being in the minority...or better still the lone dissenter! I assume this is taking place at 148, and Tito was darn near unbeatable in his own era (came out unscathed), and he very few fights that could even be termed as close. He blew away an aging/past prime Whitaker and other than that cannot find any comprable opponent to Benitez...Benitez on the other hand had 9 fights at 148 between between 77-80 and lost 1 (SRL),and scored 3 other SD/MD over talent of a lesser caliber than Tito. The highest caliber opponent he fought was Palomino and he in no way destroyed him. I love El Radar, but think he has been elevated to fantasy proportions that he never managed to equal in real life. I think he would look brilliant at times, similar to how he managed to avoid and telegraph so many punches in the Hearns fight (I Know that was 154)...but could not miss them all nor mount an offensive attack enough tho tilt the scorecards his way. Tito methodically sticks with it and stalks Benitez down to a 116-112 decision....and yes, the world be shocked!~
there is an argument that tito was weak and weight drained for that fight. he never fought at welter again i fancy w.b big at welter but imn not as confident at junior middle. tito looked absolutely awesome during the year 2000 at that weight. super strong and super fast
Benitez's best performance came at junior middle. When he completely schooled Duran. THAT version of Benitez boxes rings around Tito. This aint David Reid, or Vargas we're talking about here.

When I see footage of Wilfred Benitez I wonder how he lost. Even to Leonard and Hearns. His talent/skill/ability level is one of the best in the history of boxing. Certanaly better than Felix Trinidad"s. However there is more to winning than just talent/skill/ability. What ever that extra X-factor is Trinidad has it more than Benitez.

I see a fairly competitive fight, but Benitez is a class above Tito and would use his ring generalship to control the pace of the fight. Benitez wins all day. Also, Tito should not be judged off of his performance in the De la Hoya fight. Tito was clearly drained in that fight and was not the same fighter that he normaly was.
