Tyson the Trainer

Yeah you read the headline right. What if Tyson with all his boxing knowledge decided to train someone? Do you think he could successfully train a protege and take them up the ranks? Obviously the fighter themselves would have to possess numerous gifts already, but do you think it would be feasible for Mike Tyson to be a decent trainer? He was a great student of the game and had a great deal of knowledge passed on to him from many great boxing minds, so I think he could probably make a great fighter out of someone if he decided to get into it. Imagine if he was able to effectively train someone with the right tools to fight like he used to, someone who wouldn't screw it up like he did, and who wouldn't have to because they had him in their corner to make sure they didn't make the same mistakes. I think it would be pretty cool to see Mike Tyson training some young up and coming heavyweight and turn them into a heavyweight champion like he used to be, in the style he used to use.

Tyson was molded and aimed at whatever poor ******* was in the opposite corner before his loss to Douglas. If he really knew how to train properly without guidance, he would have. He needed Kevin Rooney to be at peak performance. He had the right balance of intensity and insanity to be effective. So this is one of those cases where I don't think a great fighter would make for a great coach.

I think his knowledge is really tip top but not sure about his mentality or dedication.

 

I can see the appeal of fighters getting tutelage by iron mike tyson.. also he can make a bit of money from it, and he could preserve the teachings cus d'amato if he remembers any of it. He is completely unproven though and doent seem to have the patience a good trainer needs

 

this was brought up a year ago when he was supposed to start training fighters....and it has happened...nor will it ever happen

I bet he's making more money from appearances, movie roles, autographs. I think he wouldn't have the time to work with a few or even one fighter, mike is probably doing well financially right now.
