In their primes who would have won? Tyson was a beast but when in shape and motivated Bowe was at the top. He could fight on the inside and would not have been afraid of Tyson. I pick Bowe in a TKO
Would be an excellent fight, and I give Bowe the best chance out of Lewis Holy and Bowe to beat Tyson, because he had all those intangibles you listed. I would most likely still pick Tyson, but it would be my dream fight.
Not true. Bowe was a quality fighter. Yes Lewis was argualy a better all-round fighter with the greater resume, but Bowe had a superior inside game and probably a slightly better chin.
How can anyone even have to consider this question, Tyson would have absolutely mullered Bowe. I think some of you muppets forget how ****ing good Tyson was at his best. Tyson would have been a betting favourite over any fighter in history, when he was at his best. Dont let his demise tarnish just how good he was. Bowe was good, but Tyson was much, much too good for him, and Lewis and Holyfield. Tyson deteriorated horribly after Prison, but for 3 or 4 years was untouchable.
Welcome dude. I agree and go for Bowe. I think the Bowe and Holyfield of fight one would have both beaten Prime Tyson.
Dunno. Tyson had trouble with tall guys - ask Douglas, Mitch Green, Tony Tucker. Would have been a hell of a fight though.
Exactly. Amateurs. Henry Tillman beat Mike Tyson in the amateurs twice, look what happened when they got in the pro ring. The fact he binned his WBC belt is a question of his heart rather than ability. There's no denying that Lewis was a fantastic fighter, he had a good chin and a great inside game, but Bowe's chin was even better and he had a truely excellent inside game. Lewis for me is the slightly superior fighter as a package prime-for-prime, but the time the fight was supposed to happen, I think it was '93 ,I think Bowe would of beat him. Yes Lewis beat Bowe in the amateurs and yes prime-for-prime he would probably be the favourite, but Bowe peaked far earlier than Lewis, who was still pretty green in '93. This was the guy who had been outjabbed by Bruno before stopping him because he pawed with the jab more, and looked bad at times fighting Tony 'TNT' Tucker. Bowe by this time had just beaten the-then unbeaten Evander Holyfield and was at the top of his game. I fancy him to have TKO'd Lewis at this time, although Lewis had the mental edge - Bowe was the superior fighter at this time in their respective careers.
As great as Mike was, Bowe's potential was just as great. I say Bowe by late TKO in this Battle of Brownsville. Bowe could take anything and punched like a mule.
Tyson by decision, tough and close of course. Prime Bowe is no chump to be taken out in a single round not even by prime Tyson.
Thread about this in classic. My take, Bowe didn't have either the chin or the defence to take on Tyson. I think Tyson would knock him out 10/10.
