Mike Tyson had a great chin. He took monsterous shots off Ruddock, Bonecrusher, Bruno, lewis all very hard punchers. But I don't think his chin was on say a Corrie Sanders type level.
How many punchers the caliber of Bonecrusher Smith, Ruddock, Bruno and Lewis did Joe Frazier face? One. And he was blown out by that man both times in spectacular fashion.
Tyson had a very good chin he took some big shots from Ruddock and Bruno first time an stood up to them, he lack the mental strength of a Holyfield to get hurt bad or knocked down and come back to win.

He was never dropped by a single shot (unless you count Holyfields flash KD in the 6th :roll: ), something very few HWs can say and was never even seriously close to ever going down from anything less than a sustained beating for rounds. Name 10 HWs that take a better shot than Tyson. McCall, Tua, Chuvalo, Evander perhaps but his chin is over rated in that while it was great it was his heart that usually bailed him out. Holmes was dropped by single shots from several fighters such as Kevin Issac although it was early in his career, and Snipes who isn't a big puncher. Tyson took bigger shots from bigger punchers than these and never went down. Ali also had a great chin but was dropped by Sonny Banks and Cooper both by single punches. In recovery ability, heart obviously Ali has the edge but in terms of absorbing big shots Tyson takes it. So we have McCall, Tua, Chuvalo, and Holyfield even if you count him. That's only 4 Heavyweights who took a better shot than him. Even if you throw in Ali and Holmes that's 6.
. Frazier took a ton more hard shots against Ali then Tyson ever took against these guys. Frazier got tagged for 41 rounds against Ali and never went down.
Here we gp again with the he took some big shots argument. Forget about the fact that he was koed 5 times because he took some big shots. I have asked before. Can someone name me some fighters who didn't take some big shots? Can I have a list of so called great chinned fighters who took less big shots then Tyson? I am sure I won't see this list also because it doesn't exist. The tyson had a great chin guys just want to say he had a great chin without having to back it up with any kind of serious argument. I have asked for all kinds of lists to try and back up your argument but I haven't and won't see any. So you want me to believe Tyson had a great chin even though nobody else who ever had a great chin got knocked out nearly that many times. Come on. I tell boxing fans I work with that on this board people build up Tyson as having a great chin and there is alot of laughing. Guys who you can count on to get koed when taking alot of punishment don't have great chins. Again i will be waiting for this long list of ever weaked chined fighters who didn't take some decent shots.
