I think his chin was fine it was his mind...and his mind made his heart weak...he needed support and he lost it when Cus died..no fault of his..he was young and on his own most of his life...Cus was his father mother and brother....he took the wrong fork in the road...if he would have stood up and been the better man ...WHO KNOWS

    Ali?

Ali never hit Frazier with the type of uppercut Douglas landed on Tyson, or the right hands Lewis landed on him.

Watch Tyson take a counter left hook from Bruno in the first round of their first fight, and tell me Tyson couldn't take a punch. For starters.

Arther, how many people will it take to tell you the same thing before it sinks in that they may have a point?

And it held up for 10 rounds against Douglas who literally knocked fighters down with a jab, and 8 rounds of punishment against Lewis who has ATG power when much faded :good ;)

I think Tysons got alot more heart the people give him credit for he took those beatings against Douglas and Lewis like a man and they were BEATINGS.

My problem with Tyson that once he thought he was beaten he would accept the shots, almost just waiting to be KO'd. Yes, you could say that takes heart but it also shows a certain weakness in accepting defeat IMHO.

Arther, I think you're really saying the same thing as most here, but with different words. When people say Tyson had a great chin they mean that he could take a single punch well, and he could. I don't for example think that he, at any time in his pro career, would be as badly hurt by Cooper's left hook as Ali/Clay was. Tyson took the best punches from much more powerful guys without going down.

On the other hand Tyson did seem to have a very hard time to come back when in trouble, and this is what really sets him apart from most other ATGs. There's no way in hell he could suck it up like Ali did in Manilla, for example.

So maybe you could say that Tyson had a great chin, but not very great durability. It's just a matter of defintion, really, because I believe most would agree with what I said above.

He did rally to drop Douglas in the 8th round of their fight though.

I don't think it was a heart thing, he just started looking for big shots to end it.

I dont think Tyson gave up against Douglas, He was there for the payday with Lewis but against Douglas Tyson tried he just wasnt the superman everyone thought he was and he isnt a top 10 heavyweight in my opinion but He did have an Iron chin and when Douglas hit him with that uppercut he still wasnt going down only the left-right eventualy got him on the canvas.
