as someone who wasn't there at the beginning of mma, its great watching ufc unleashed and catching up with some of the old fighters. lately on the show there has been the likes of Wesley 'cabbage' Correira, Andrei Arlovski, and Royce Gracie featured. that 'cabbage' guy could sure take a punch couldn't he? i wonder if he can actually put a sentence together these days though? it must of been great watching all of this as it was happening, especially the BJJ. although the gracie fights i've so far seen have been interesting, you couldn't really call them too exciting. it must of looked strange at the time, when people weren't really familiar with BJJ. half the time it just looks like gracie is simply laying on top of the other fighter, forcing him to tap out. doesn't look that obvious as to what he was doing. looks a bit odd when a fighter wears a gi in the ring. so it sounds like gracie introduced BJJ to the masses so to speak? was/is there other types of jiu jitsu besides the brazilian? if so, has that been around for a long time, and where did it originate from?
