I agree with the UFC paystructure but I do not know why Carwin only got $40k for such a big fight. Even a win bonus wouldn't be enough. He should have been on a good $60k, with a win bonus of $60k, ko bonus etc Carwin's paycheque was poo because he lost but if he won plus got ko or fight of the night and coupled with sponsorship, he would probably make $150k.
Thats what the UFC paid him. I dont care about sponsorships ad's promotions whatever THATS WHAT THE UFC paid him. Is it really that difficult to understand?? But im the dummy :roll:
Even if he won it was ALOT less than what lesnar got who walked away with just under half a mil. With that kind of money at stake it makes a sham of the tag Dana gave it.
That is the fight purse the UFC paid him. Maybe you believe that the fight purse is the only money paid to fighters by the UFC, but that is not the case. K1 for example has had fight purses of less than $1000 to name fighters; they were obviously paying them through another avenue.
So if your job pays you $1 an hour, but you find a million beer cans on the side of the road on the walk home and cash them in, all is fair with the job right?
If the company put them there for me to pick up with the legal agreement that I would be paid for it, then yes. Promotions pay fighters outside of fight purses because the fighters don't always like their salaries to be known to the public. It's not illegal, its not to dodge taxes, it's just a company paying an employee. It's a third party paying the fighters, it is the company, it is common practice.
