Yeah the hype is OTT and annoying but hey, that's marketing. Life isn't always fair, some people are more/less lucky than others.
If AJ loses to old man Wlad that will be devastating to his reputation. He'd be better off losing to Wilder, who's at least "young" and undefeated though actually quite mediocre.
That would really depend on the manner of the defeat and what both Wlad and AJ go on to accomplish in the future.
AJ losing to wlad, come again.. I have a far better chance of hitting powerball, Megamil. hell, hitting every lottery game the US has in 1 night than Wladimir does of lasting against AJ. The ONLY fighters that could (have the ability) pull off the huge upset are dw, Haye and parker. Ortiz would be a punching bag for 3 to 5 rounds ending his career that night from the punishment. yes , that's exactly how Ortiz fights. he would be dead man right square in front of AJ getting hurt and hurt bad. Aj is the real deal , I feel bad for all these fans we have that hate on all the best fighters that come through our sport. still true, the more hate you get the better you're doing. Just sad, missing out on all the great fighters because you hate too much that it clouds your judgement to the point you lie to yourself every second of every day
Would you bother watching the fight ? Haye ? Get outta here. Haye was scared to engage with Wlad and Valuev back when he was the younger prime fighter, imagine how he'd be NOW against a big young fighter of AJ's type. I agree, he looks promising and that's a good thing. It's a bit early to say he's the best, since he hasn't fought anyone good yet.
I actually admire how UK fans get behind their fighters. Their passion for their fighters starts when the guys are on an amateur level and making their way up. I don't think Joshua is overhyped- he's a young, strong, skilled fighter with a decorated amateur background whose seemingly hungry to make a name for himself as the best HW in the world. I still think it's a little too early for him to be jumping in with certain HW's that just have way too much experience for him at this point, but the HW division has been lacking elite level talent for over a decade so even if he's still a bit green, he could very well skyrocket to the top of the HW rankings.
Think it might have something to do with how awful and boring the way Fury beat Wlad? He was scared to engage with a guy who was not throwing any punches. Do you think Joshua is going to do the same to Wlad? The manner in which Fury fought with a dead man in front of him was pitiful. I doubt we see Joshua do the same. That is the difference.
yeah maybe, but don't forget, Fury may not come back in the top shape he was when he left? just saying, he is a big dude that puts on lots of weight between fights, if he is retired for a few years I could see him coming back slower imo.
The man is a star, they love him in the UK and that's the bottom line. His knockout of Molina is the only fight that is getting media play where I'm at. All he has to do is keep winning.
The torch was passed to Fury. AJ is just picking up leftovers. If he can win against a still impressive looking Wlad, that still says a lot. Fury vs AJ would be such a super fight in the UK. Definitely bigger than 80,000 at wembley arena.
