I think the meaning of his message is that most posters will simply throw forward their favorite fighter I could be wrong tho.
On a lower level guys like Jimmy Paul, Pedroza, Buchanan, Breland, Camacho, McCrory, Roger Mayweather, Jeff Chandler etc all had good to terrific jabs that at times don't get their due or are never talked about. Greg Page and Carl Williams had terrific heavyweight jabs and Bruno's is at times underrated tho more people are onto it in recent years. Michael Spinks had a superb jab that even the experts slept on in the early years. Napoles jab gets overlooked at times for his brilliant counter punching.
Used to love watching Jimmy Paul fight patient boxer with power. Buchanan probably had one of the best jabs in the history of lightweights. Mayweather used to flick that jab out there and BOOM drop that right-hand. He gets so underrated. Breland broke Starlings nose in the first fight with his jab. Still say if Breland would have stayed with Kronk he would have had a different career. Man for his size Page moved so fluid.
All spot on mate. Just when i thought Jimmy might be champ for a while the underrated Haugen rolled him and that was about all, she wrote. Buchanan does have one of rhe great jabs. You only see it recognised by our more experienced posters but what a fine left hand it was. Mayweather was thought to be a bit of a min Hearns for a while there. Breland was going to be the next SRR, man he got some hype. He just didn't adapt to the pro's very well, or certainly nothing like what was predicted. He was an anaimal of an amateur.
Good call on Moorer, his jab was heavy, sharp and underrated because people focused more on his power or southpaw stance. One guy I’d add is Sonny Liston. People remember the raw power, but the jab was a wrecking ball, not just a range finder. He could literally knock guys off balance or stop them mid-attack with it. Probably the hardest, most punishing jab in heavyweight history but still doesn’t get talked about enough outside hardcore fans. Also Donald Curry deserves a mention at welterweight. Beautiful timing, accuracy and always controlled the pace with his jab before letting combinations go.
