Undisputed Champions

    Am I right in saying that Hamed, Lewis, Calzaghe are the last 3 British undisputed champions? And if so, who was the last one before them? And who in your opinion will be the next one?

    We will be waiting a very long time I think.

    Haye wasn't undisputed. Cunningham was IBF champ and as far as I can recall, Haye never won that strap.

    wasn't hatton undisputed light welter after he beat tszyu, or at some point after?

    to be undisputed champ do you have to hold all four major belts? or is that unified champ, whats the difference if any?

    I mentioned Haye but you are right he never won the IBF. Actually I remember arguing the point on here that he shouldn't be undisputed because of that fact.

    Honeyghan was undisputed welterweight champion but binned the WBA belt soon after winning it as he refused to fight a white South African.

    Hatton never won the WBC did he? Not even sure about the WBO either. I think he won the IBF off Tszyu and the WBA off Maussa. Could be wrong though.

    Hamed would've won the WBA though wouldn't he? If not for politics?

    Shows how fractured and pointless the situation is at the moment. Haye mightve never fought Cunningham, but his oppo was good enough for him to be concensous best Cruiser upon his point of leaving.

    yes...but at the same time.

    and calzaghe did not do this !!....he was never technically undisputed.

    I think being the undisputed champion of one organisation is a great achievement these days.

    It makes you a lock for the HOF.

    Yep, if not for politics both Haye and Hamed would have done it. Bell was stripped of the IBF trinket before the Mormeck rematch.

    I'm pretty sure he had to vacate the IBF belt to fight Kessler. So in beating Kessler he was the real champ of all 4 major belts as well as the Ring. It is virtually impossible to actually hold all major belts at once these days with the politics that go on :-(
