    Well, I watched the fight.

I am unimpressed, both men lacked stamina and did not appear to be in top shape. Both men were slow, Povetkin was more versatile and therefore deserved the decision.

Povetkin nearly quit after the 6th round. He was totally exhausted and seemingly was not ready to deal with adversity in the ring.Only Teddy Atlas kept him in the fight.

In no way, is Povetkin ready for either Klitschko. He is way to easy to hit and lacks experience. He would get koncked out. He should first fight guysl like Holy, Rahman and Toney. I am not even sure he will win against them...

I agree with your post. According to latest rumours, Povetkin will have to make a first defence of his 'regular bogus WBA' - belt against either Holyfield or Haye.

I heard Povetkin had only a 3 week camp, might explain his condition.

It was no different than the typical HW fight these days. At least it had relevance.

Povetkin now has a resume which bolsters: Ruslan Chagaev, Eddie Chambers, and Chris Byrd. If I were his management, I'd have him face Holyfield in late December. Take on Dimitrenko in April-ish, then shoot for either Klitschko early next fall.

That fight looked like they were underwater.

How is it even remotely possible that these guys are top-ten contenders? Are the promoters somehow hiding the really good prospects, or killing them off or something? It boggles the mind ....

I agree. Although he gives his all, Chagaev is shot. Being that he was competitive with Povetkin speaks a lot to Povetkin's talents, or lack thereof. And I can't stant looking at Povetkin's "doughboy" body.

What made you think that Povetkin was ready to quit after 6th? No way. He wasn't hurt badly enough to quit. And Atlas is just screaming to get on the camera. This was not motivational at all. Some dumb speech that Povetkin didn't need. Attention ***** is what Atlas is. "This is your day to make history" History my ass.

That was the EPIX LOW D stream you were seeing:lol::lol::lol:

Nah, but seriously.....they looked like the Bonecrushers, Bowes, Golotos, Morrisons, Moorers, Cooney, and Holmeses, speedwise. Except without the punch that Morrison, Holmes and Bonecrusher could occasionally, or in Holmes case, automatically deliver.

Too early. This guy needs at least 2-3 years to be ready for the Klit sisters.

I mean look at the guys who were rushed in a Klit fight: Haye, Arreola, Chambers etc We all know that they did not have tghe experience, skills and confidence to compete with the Klits.

Povetkin was impresive in my mind. Sure he is not yet ready for Wlad but it was a good victory.

Atlas managed to get him in second gear with his motivational speach so Atlas haters should shut up about it. It worked fine and his man won a world title, with one of the best performance of his career so far.

Looking a new WBA rankings I think they are planing to give next shot to Rahman, what would be an ok title defence

Solid fighters, that is all. Certainly not on the level of the Klits.

Povetkin will now settle to fight "HAs been" RAhman and Oldyfield, really great.

Povetkin is a solid fighter, nothing special. The Mercers, Morrisons, Bowe, Holys of the 90s would have beaten him .

He will never be on the level of the Klits.

I totally agree, but my scorecard had Chagaev up by 2 points with 2 tied rounds. No doubt, Pot stole 9-11 after Teddy's speech, but Chag had 5-8 in the bag, and took 1, and 11, with 2 and 4 tied, the 3rd going to Sasha.

6 rds to 4, with two tied rounds. I don't know what those judges were thinking, even after rewatching in better quality, I mighta gave Sasha the 2nd, had the first tied, and left the 4th tied. A draw at best.

But it was a good, close fight, and Potvetkin showed a great chin, standing up to several unanswered L's, hooks, OHs, and str8s. I thought for sure he was going down in the 6th and 7th, but his chin and his heart held up. Too bad neither of em worked the body. We mighta got to see a KO.
