Likewise, Sumbu Kalumbay was a masterclass jabber with at least five variations.

You can see some up jabs here vs McCallum and DeWitt, probably others. Love the way he’ll tap McCallum on the chest with it once or twice to set up spearing him with the up jab.

Hatton had a lovely up jab. Stung Mayweather with it in the first round of their fight together.

Mike Tyson was very good at shifting his weight onto his left leg and shooting a short, snappy up jab from there.

When I look at the examples cited, it is clear a lot of folks here do not understand what an up jab is. Tommy Hearns had the best one in history.

 

Hearns' was faster but Foster's up-jab had more oomph to it.

 

Paul Malignaggi made his career with this. It was really his only consistently reliable weapon. Without his good up jab, he would have never become world champion.

 

Those spearing up-jabs Usyk throws have some steam too. You can see opponents do NOT like getting hit with them.
