The IBF should review the stoppage due to a MINOR cut that was not interfering with Hernandez vision. It was Hernadez who asked the ref/doc to stop it, so IMO this should be rerule a TKO for Cunningham as Hernandez chose not to continue. 1 10/8 rds, followed by 5 10/9 rounds for Cunningham and Hernandez must've known something about the cards, cuz quitting like he did, and leaving the classroom in which he was just taken to school was ludicrous. I want a refund....even though I didn't pay a nickel for the fight. :-(
That cut was a ****ing disgrace!!!!!!! My six year old neice has had worse cuts and doesn't ***** about it!
If you're a Cunningham fan, you probably don't want this getting reviewed with the possibility of it being officially changed to a TKO. :deal That will backfire on you.
That was my point about this thread. There's no way the ref or the doc initiated that stoppage. It was Hernandez, which means he had to have known he was up, even though I had him WAAAAAAY DOWN. Cunningham RTD6 Hernandez
The cut looked real bad. The first cut looked the result of an accidental headclash but the second looked deliberate. I think the outcome was fair as it was, but it was a shame that we didn't get more rounds as the fight was very good.
Seriously, that was one weird fight with one weird ending. Hernandez' corner took the escape route with that cut from the headbutt(s), but on the other hand it also could have gone in the books as a KO1 for Hernandez with a "normal" counting referee. USS Cunningham was the first to "escape" in that fight, and that's the one that counts the most imo. Cause seriously, who here would have complained if he was counted out right there?
no he wasn't. he was down for 15 ****in seconds, he came back, but after 6 rounds hernandes had more points than him.
yeah there was an interview with the ringside physican on the German channel after a reply of the fight and he admitted that those cuts were babycuts but he just thought Hernandez was treated unfairly because he felt the count was too long and the headbutts by Cunningham were intentional. so he told the referee to stop it knowing Hernandez was ahead on the cards to serve justice even though there was no medical reason to stop the fight..
WTF??? Are you serious or just facetious? That is the most blatant unauthorized interference I have ever heard anyone admit to in boxing. If that is actually true and this doc is on the record saying this, he should be immediately terminated from boxing and this fight has to be a do over. The doc has no right making decisions about stoppages based on anything other than the physical condition of the fighter.
Cunningham lost ba first round KO. The english ref did the slowest count this years so far. And the cuts were all from accidental headbutts. He lost, as simple as that. But good fight BTW.
God you guys are ****ing delusional. He got up at 9. Headbutts were accidental. And He was dominating the fight on his was to a TKO victory/UD.
