The whole conspiracy theory is that someone else killed his wife and they had him arrested. He was heavy into the politics down there so it was something to do with that.

calm down fool, the man took his own life.....most family members do that when someone they love takes their own life, it's called denial rip valero
That is the most out there theory I've heard on this. The theory most believed is that he killed his wife, then the police killed him in jail. Considering he went to the hotel lobby covered in blood and confessed to just killing his wife, It's pretty safe to say he killed her.
In this case some of the facts of Valero taking his own life did'nt add up, like him walking in with a track suit, an hanging himself on a low cieling with jeans...... There has been speculation from some that the government lead by Hugo Chavez ordered Valero be killed......... Nice to see the Venezualan govt. is'nt intervening with the family exhuming the body so that they can have real closure and peace in knowing one way or the other whether Valero took his own life. ......that same courtesty of closure was'nt granted by the Nicaraguan govt, who suspiciously had Alexis Arguello buried quickly without letting Arguello's son's and daughters perform an independent autopsy of Arguello's body. There was a rush to bury Arguello's body by the Nicaraguan govt.....and Arguello's son who had to rush to Nicaragua just to see his dad's body before they buried him...... When Arguello's son wanted his Dad's remains to be exhumed for an independent Autopsy, the Nicaraguan govt. flatly refused the request. If there is any doubt at all by the family, imo they have a human right to exhume the body and order and independent autopsy.
