I hope things improve for Vanes quickly and he's well. This reminded me that almost a year has passed since Israel 'Magnifico' Vazquez passed away. I hope the media remembers him, Vazquez was a warrior in the ring, but above all, a kind man with a sensitive soul, he deserved a long and happy life.
Quality fighter who was unlucky not to have nicked a title. Gave Erislandy Lara all he could handle twice, which is perhaps more emblematic of styles than his class. Even still, he always put in a good showing when he stepped up even if he fell short and I hope he manages to win the biggest fight of his career against the Big C.
Every time I see this it always pains me. Vanes was always a great reliable underdog and he will be giving treatment his best shot.
That's absolutely awful. I understood he was in a bad way but not that he would be gone in a few days bad. And so young too. Excellent fighter, both amateur and pro, should've been a world champion and was very unlucky not to have become one. RIP, champ
