Is he a future hall of famer, i know he got knocked out by mayorga but lost a disputed decision time and beat Mosley twice

Vernon Forrest is a class boxer imo, and he is tough aswell. The way he comes in with his uppercut behind his jab just looks great. Proved himself imo by re-establishing himslf after the Mayorga fights.

But i heard he shouldve got beatn by Quartey, havent seen it though

Very good boxer, his speed, boxing ability & ring generalship could give Mayweather a very entertaining bout.

At this point and time, he is not a hall of famer.

Forrest is a superb boxer-puncher. He operates only from a distance, but is very effective in doing so because he has a long, stiff jab and throws his shots right down the pipe with speed and accuracy. His right hand is a dangerous punch. Top notch fundamentals defensively and offensively. His vulnerability is against pressure fighters that can take his shots (Mayorga) and other boxers that have the ability to outjab him (Quartey).

He's not a hall of famer. To reach that status, he'd have to beat a couple title holders at 154 and unify the division.

I agree, with the qualification that while the Viper might not be a HOF'er based on objectively analysis, he's probably as good and as accomoplished as some people who are in there.

He's an excellent figher and from all indications, a heck of a nice guy, too. I was happy for the success he had earlier in his career, and glad to see him capture a belt recently.

just wondering why didn't he get the bigger bouts if he was that talented?
guys like vargas, wright, de la hoya were around at a similar weight before he lost to mayorga?

I think he is a great boxer puncher who beat Shane and lost to Mayorga. He had a great amaetur background with wins over Mosley, but lost to Tszyu. His only problem was when he took off a couple years to rest his shoulder after surgery. Maybe at that time he could had fought some comp to help his record. But I always felt he won the 2nd Mayorga fight

His not going to the HOF. He was a decent mainstay at 47. Struggled with Raul Frank in a boring match when he won the IBF. Was given a shot by an unbeaten and world ranked P4P best Sugar Shane and made his name then. Went onto to loose emphatically to Mayorga and has suffered career shoulder injurys since. His too old to make a real dent now but is a welcome addition to 54 as a name opponent.

He wasnt a big-money name, and i think the reason he never fought them was for the reason u said - he was very talented

Forrest was a high risk/low reward guy in his prime. The welterweight talent pool was deep and he was a relative unknown who didn't bring much in the way of marketability. He had a few media types like Kellerman and others calling for him to get a title shot long before he did.
