He's a very talented fighter and was giving it to Maidana. If he would just protect himself and keep his hands up he could have may'be beaten Maidana and he could be one more good fighter at 140.

 

I thought he was doing very well and added him to the watch list... I think he was boxing beautiful until he started getting to brave. I feel with a great veteran/team in his corner he could become a real good opponent or perhaps one of the best from his country.

He admitted, he fought stupid. Said he took a chance. Hopefully, he learned his lesson.

 

I think Joe Goesson (sp?) would be the perfect trainer for this guy. If he can sign with a good promoter hopefully he'll get the right matches to develop him further. Lets face it, he was rushed into the Maidana fight with Arturo Mora and Julio Daiz as his only real opponents. Someone like Rolando Reyes or Demarcus Corley would be a decent test for his next fight.

 

Did you see what happened when he kept his hands up? Maidana near punched a hole through his chest :scaredas:

Very good fighter Cayo i like that style of fighter very unorthodox and relying on reflexes. I hope he can come back stronger but i think he will need the division to empty out a bit for a title.

 

I like what ive seen of him. I wouldnt be too fast throwing him back into the deep end though. give him a few more fights before another title shot. Also in the last couple rounds against Diaz he seemed to tire a bit. tough durable opponents to get him used to 10-12 rounds

I like the guy, he is exciting and very gifted, although a bit too much in love in his talent, he needs a more defensive, intelligent approach. I picked him again Maidana because he had the speed and countering to give the often very wide Chini troubles, but he was hit way too much to get away with it. But just like Kotelnik for Maidana, it is a valuable world-class experience for a young 140lbs talent and I look forward to his return.

I feel for him, Cayo had a terrible last 12 months. Last year he lost his longtime trainer, this year his unbeaten run ended via a brutal body shot KO, and in a very sad incident he lost his 14 month-old son in June.
