He can’t retire without fighting the winner of that fight. That would be the Bowe trash can move of this generation and will haunt him forever. Plus for historical significance he will become undisputed and be the first since Lennox.

Interesting, TY Rummy! I agree that Fury can eliminate a lot of questions with one more fight, but only if he beats Usyk (if he beats AJ again). But, If AJ wins and then loses to Fury, I still see lots of questions remaining unanswered.

 

Fury is now a free agent, if he wants to be.

We can assume Usyk will beat AJ, another free agent.

So Usyk Vs Fury. They can sift through the bids together with no ties to anything. Probably $200m bid from Saudi.

Can't see anywhere else coughing up the dough unless some big shot in the US has fallen in love with Fury and wants it.

He doesn't need to beat AJ. AJ is a bum.

 

What if AJ wins by hook or crook?
I mean a two time unified champ is hardly a bum not even you can believe that. AJ v Fury would do more money and we both know that.

 

Agree with you Rummy. I can't see him retiring he likes to fight and money talks simple as that.

Excellent review as usual. I agree that Fury goes from "what might have been" to "one of the great HW's"
if he defeats Usyk/Joshua.

 

I found it odd that he told his wife he was gonna retire after wilder 3, then comes back to face whyte but says he's gonna retire after this fight, but then right there in the ring afterwards announces he's going to fight frances ngannou in a boxing/mma hybrid fight.

I wanna see him fight Usyk and AJ. Beat 'em both convincingly and then you can easily make the argument that he cleaned out the division and there's nothing left for him to accomplish or prove.

 

The context for Wilder 3 is different

Fury couldn't have cared less about fighting Wilder again. It was a legal bout. He had a 3 week camp. He almost lost a child. It was a very tough period for him.

No doubt after that fight which was GRUELLING he must have felt finished.

But an easy Whyte fight and a few months enjoying life over the summer he might be hungry to fight again.
