I still find it impressive that he was active a lot in kickboxing then went on to be a great heavyweight champion. I really like Vitali, I dont get why people call him boring, to me he is a great smart fighter that is a h2h nightmare for a lot of atg's and would be a contender/champ in many era's.

Wlad is skilled, but he gets by due to the division's hopeless ineptitude AND exploiting the size advantage. He fights careful, tentative match-ups with bums and wins them in boring fashion (most of the time). His brother takes out anyone who could be a threat to him, even though there are no real threats among the hapless bums he has to choose from. Whenever Wlad has had to deal with real adversity from a skilled opponent, he has folded like a cheap suit. Hell, even a bum like PETER was able to put him down 3 times. He was ready to quit in that fight. Peter is a C-/D level plodder. Ross PURRITTY? Never rematched him. Corrie SANDERS? If heavyweights from North America had evolved with the times (like European fighters did), then we'd have guys out there who could negate the size advantage Wlad hides behind and exploits. An Ali, Holmes, Foreman, etc for this generation would be at least as big, if not bigger than Wald is. A heavyweight with their kind of abilities, plus the obvious evolution in size that they'd have today, would **** WALD UP!! I think Vitali would have a very hard time against that too, but at least he's a "fighter". He's tough as nails. Vitali's style is fit for dealing with a wild brawler, but a pure boxer with some size & pop would be his kryptonite. Klitschko's should be glad LEWIS was as the end of his career when they finally tried to step up. Lewis was the last great HW champion. A prime Lewis stops both of them and gets Vitali out of there. Vitali returned to fighting just to thin the abysmal field out. He knows Wlad has let them down before by getting handled unexpectedly by bums. Big bro is protective and rightly so. u can stay in denial and play the race card all you want. Wald has the Ibragimov fight on film forever. And all the little Eliseo Castillo's, Chris Byrd's, Chagaev's, Chambers, chinless Brock's, and so on. Those were all careful matchups for him, just like the big, but SLOOOW dudes he's fought. The man has not gone head to head with any other fighter headed for the HOF. When u talk about Ali, Louis, Foreman, Dempsey etc. these guys fought other ATG's. Of the brothers, Vitali is the only one who did. And as much as I like him, as well as he fought....... he lost to an old, out of shape LENNOX LEWIS by TKO6.
