Does anyone know why the WBC is ordering Vitali Klitschko to fight against "number one contender" Oleg Maskaev when Vitali just made a mandatory defense against Juan Carlos Gomez?
It is a pointless fight. Peter knocked Oleg silly. Than Vitali outclassed and made Peter quit on his stool.
Probably because Oleg's people payed more than a sanctioning fee to the WBC. That's how Suleiman roles.
This fight is the result of Dennis Rappaport (Maskaev's promoter) dropping a lawsuit he had against the WBC for the strange change of the purse split for the Peter-Maskaev fight. Remember, Peter was made "interim" Champion after the first postponement of the fight that changed his cut of the purse from 30% to 45%. Rappaport goes way back with Jose Sulaiman to the early 1980's when he got Gerry Cooney ranked #1 in the WBC by beating a bunch of nobodies. I think a decision on the case is supposed to be announced tomorrow accoring to the website that has news about fights. :good
I dont understand this **** at all seems like the WBC are intent on keeping Vitali as the belt holder, they are not exactly making things better for the sport.
Maybe Wladimir - but that fight will never happen. I don't think David Haye will beat Vitali - but I do think the two would make for a great fight.
Exactly maybe Wlad and that fight wont happen. Haye would get beat up and knocked out if he tryed to fight Vitali.
Maskaev is undeserving and doesn't have enough since losing to Sam Peter to earn a title shot. It doesn't work like that in the HW division - one loss and you're at the back of the line.
