The controversy surrounding the referee's performance in the Khan fight got me thinking about Ward v Froch this weekend: Does anyone feel that with all this talk from Froch about "I can be dirty too" and "I'll use my head or elbow if he wants to", that maybe the referee will be watching out for that more? I know he is trying to allude to Ward's use of his head in the past but I get the feeling this is going to be counter-productive... It kind of reminds me of Jose Mourinho trying to influence referees before a game - although Froch is much less subtle! Also, is it Steve Smoger referring this Saturday? What is his style? Does he have any quirks/dislikes regarding fighters (i.e. pushing :hey)
Smoger will let Froch fight you'd have thought. Not a bad choice from Carl point of view, but the same could be said for Ward i suppose. Shoudn't make too much of a difference.
Smoger will let stuff go within reason . Generally, if one fighter roughhouses, he won't then exclusively pick on the other one for doing the same. Doesn't need to be the centre of attention by jumping in every five seconds.
If it's Smoger there's no way either man will get a stoppage. Butts, pushing, tripping, genocide will all be fair game.
Bound to be the kiss of death but prefer Smoger to anyone across the water to be honest. Good luck Carl, bring it home mate
anyone know who the judges are? ward said something about it being a yank, a brit and a canadian. any idea on the brit? they wouldn't send john-lewis over would they?
Pavlik - Taylor 1, Hopkins - Trinidad, Jones Jr. - Lebedev are some of his fights. Most recent was Cotto - Margarito II
