Interestingly, there is one fight that probably ought to be televised but thankfully won't be - and one that maybe shouldn't be, but certainly would make for good viewing. According to Showtime's website they are showing only the main event, the Super Six bout. Prior to that will be: ...Tony Thompson vs. Friday Ahunanya in a drowsiness-inducing 10-rounder (I like Tony but can only imagine how horrifically boring this will be...if you saw Tua-Ahunanya you'd agree)...:dead ...Prospect Steve Upsher Chambers (with six stoppages to his credit in twenty-four fights) vs. Hector Alatorre (who has only been stopped once in twenty-five, by Victor Ortiz, and in the 10th) in an 8 rounder...:dead ...and all-action Kendall "Rated R" Holt (coming off two losses) vs. all-action Jesse Feliciano (coming off four) in an 8-rounder. :shock: I understand why Holt vs. Feliciano isn't terribly important, but it's guaranteed to not go the distance and to be great fun while it lasts. Why can't Showtime squeeze it in? Even if it does somehow miraculously go to the cards, that's an extra half hour to program into what will probably be a ninety-minute broadcast anyway (with a third of that being their usual rehashed Super Six banter). :twisted:
Thompson and Friday are already back in the mix i applaud that kinda activity and feliciano is always exciting my guess holt runs like he does often but his pwer gets feliciano outta there jesse doesnt hit like torres
Kendall Holt is all action? I'm actually interested in the Thompson fight. I like Tony. Would've been interested in the Thompson/Estrada fight but it didn't come off.
...only in the sense that he's the type who's going to knock you out or get KTFO himself...particularly I see Feliciano bringing out the best in him (as he does in everybody, lovable C-leveler that he is).
As for Thompson, it's certainly another important step in his comeback trail (who isn't rooting for him to get another world title crack, honestly?) as Friday is indeed still world-ranked (as we learned recently when he "fought" Tua and thereby allowed the Samoan to climb the bureaucratic ladder a few rungs himself). For that reason, the end result is of interest to me - especially if he manages to end it early and upstage the Tuaman. I just don't think it will be anything close to TV-worthy. Watching Thompson dispose of Beck was like watching my cat maul a spider. It's like, yeah, cool, I like my cat and all, and it's funny to see it get its kicks in such a prolonged sadistic manner, but...come on. Mercy kill. Bite its brain already. I got stuff to do. Ahunanya was only barely edged out by Kevin Johnson in the "Most Negative Heavyweight Performance Of The Last Six Months" Awards. Thompson is a slow-and-steady break-down guy. He isn't going to force the issue enough to keep Friday honest. This fight will have the seats EMPTY by the time Ward and Green do their ring walks.
