    ....Larry Holmes who schooled Mercer better than the one who lost against Tyson?

    I'd like to think so, but he still would have lost to Tyson if he had fought him at that point in his career though.

    I don't know. Holmes was more active when he beat Mercer, but then again, he was 4 years older.

    I agree that it was ultimately irreleveant in the outcome against Tyson at that advanced age.
