WBC Diamond Belt

    I heard prior to Mayweather / Mosley that because Mayweather rejected the WBA's sanctioning fees, the WBC were going to present the winner with another version of the WBC Diamond Belt either in the ring post-fight or dressing room.


    Does anybody know if this happened?

    OP don't even waste your time!

    **** that belt and the WBC - it totally diminishes what a world champion should be!

    Pacquaio won that bauble against Cotto so how could they stupid mother ****ers give it to the winner of Mosley and Mayweather???

    Both Mayweather and Mosley declined to pay the extortion fees and so Mayweather was not presented with the belt after the fight.

    It was intended to recognise "elite fighters" who win fights at catch weights ie to hop on the Pacquaio band wagon

    Let them create more and more stupid belts they are only killing the longevity of their business. Fighters are just using them to bargain for certain fights and will end up not defending them when they get into big fights. Fighters will end up using belts as toilet paper.

    The Diamond belt was supposed to first be used for catchweight fights, then it was used for fights deemed historically significant (i.e. Unification, p4p tops going head to head, etc.) Well Mayweather and Mosley both realized that all that belt was is a money grab by Jose Sulaiman(you have to pay a fee to get it) so they told him to keep it.
