Fantastic idea. Ruined by not teaming up with big promoters. Let the likes of Matchroom/Queensbury manage the undercards and use their tv slots on Sky/BT etc.
You could have had some incredible cards if they had done that @Scissors Perhaps the concept is just unviable, needing to give such big purses to get people to sign up
The rumoured purses were ridiculous anyway. It could have been less and still attractive to most fighters. They had a Liverpool show a week before or after a Hearn show in same arena. Benefited nobody. Then these ITV pay per view channels showing it but it was actually free to air, lack of promotion by ITV.
Apparently it was $50 million between two tournaments weren’t it? So 25 per tournament. 8 mil winner 4 mil runner up. 2.25mil semi final winners 1.25mil semi final losers 500k quarter final winners 250k quarter final losers. Something along those lines I’d imagine if the speculated figures were true. Maybe a bit more for the quarter finalists and less in the semis.
If cancelled this would be a shame, maybe these Russian oligarchs can help? After all they pushed hard for CW final to be in Moscow.
Sounds more likely. I can’t see Callum Smith earning that money again and even on PPV vs Bellew, Uysk wouldn’t have got near that.
