The winner of the main event between Ben Henderson and Anthony Pettis at WEC 53 (the promotion's last-ever event before merging with the UFC) will unify their WEC Lightweight Championship with the UFC's by taking on the winner of the rematch between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard scheduled for UFC 125! Lightweight is, of course, the only division where the two promotions overlapped. The featherweight and bantamweight titles from WEC will simply be renamed as UFC versions and their current holders (Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz) will subsequently defend them as such. This is only partway toward the total cross-promotional lightweight unification that many fans want out of such a stacked division - but it's probably about as close as we're going to get. Looking at the potential match-ups that could arise, any combination of two of those four would be fun. :bbb
Hopefully by voting for Gray I have jinxed him with my record of calling fights and we get to see Frankie v Henderson
I think Edgar has improved enough since fighting Maynard that he will be able to win, then he will beat Henderson. Aldo getting big time promotion... *fap fap fap*
Edgar Maynard is a good fight. Winner vs Henderson is awesome. They should have done a double bill and hyped the winner vs winner.
