Also Magee is ranked #1 by the WBA like Anthony Dirrell is ranked #1 by the WBC which makes them both mandatory for the Champion. Isn't the WBA Super Champion the real Champ ? Who decides if the #1 ranked guy is mandatory for the Regular or Super Champion?

Yes sorry my mistake Sartison is fighting him in April :patsch

Yes he is the "real" champ but once you become superchampion I think you get excused from certain duties such a mandatory defences because the clever bods at the WBA realise that if they allow them to pursue the big money unification fights or catchweight they can make more money from the champ and stil keep the "title" active by having a regular champion.

If the ranking system was geared towards the super champ what would the ranking system or mandatory obligations be for the regular champ?

In all honesty its a complete mess and there real rules are there are no rules. They must abide by all sanctioning bodies mantra "Do whatever makes them the most money"

I was gonna make a thread on him myself actually so thanks for doing it. He definately deserves more publicity. His had is last few fights all abroad. Hes a credit to the sport in that sense.

He will always fall short at the very top but he is still a good fighter and only lost to top fighters.

Hes making a good run at the minute which at his age is very goo.d

It would be great to see him back in the uk mixing it with Degale and Groves.

    Well Done Brian!!!

I agree, it's an absolute joke. Why the **** did the WBA give the interim title to Magee in the first place when the regular champion spot was vacant? Two world champions for the same organisation at the same weight is bad, three is ridiculous.

I think Magee will fight Kessler or who ever has the regular WBA title next, the Danes will want revenge for Magee winning twice on Danish shores and it could be a big fight .

Anyway well done Brian Magee a great servant to Irish boxing.

Good win. Magee is a decent fighter. No amazing talent but good tools at his disposal.
