Amazing first round. Give and take, although I think Martinez landed with the showier shots. I'm sitting here thinking, "Awesome, this can't help be another 12 round FOTY candidate" and then "IT" happened. That was almost as chilling as when the little Filipino knocked out Ricky Hatton. Maybe more chilling, there was no life in Williams for at least a minute.

Martinez schools Cintron but gets robbed, he beats Williams in the eyes of most spectators, and then conclusively beats Pavlik...and now he one punches Williams into oblivion. He's clearly a bad man, and I wouldn't expect the smaller guys like Floyd and Pacquiao to fight him. Martinez isn't just big, he's exceptionally skilled, and seems to carry respectable power at 160lbs.

Side note, I just checked out the "Martinez gonna leave on a stretcher thread" and had a right laugh.

    I hope Williams is okay.

Pretty much my thoughts on it. I was also sitting here wondering just how this fight could be between two elite fighters, yet one guy was landing very clear shots like that. I know Williams wasn't doing too badly and was forcing the attack where he could but he was getting hit a lot more cleanly than I thought even Williams would. I did not expect the ending though.

Its incredible when you think Martinez has got to where he is after starting boxing at such a late age. The man is a credit to the sport, I hope Williams gets better and returns soon. I also hope he is returned sensibly and hooks up with a guy who will get him using his reach much more effectively.

I was going off when that punch landed.

It sounded like a ****ing sonic boom, Lewis vs Rahman II style. Williams walks onto too many big shots, he got hit with a couple of gems whilst on the ropes in round one which caught his attention.

I had same thoughts, Add. Leading up to it, it was anyone's fight and a bit back and fort, although I did think Martinez had won the first round with the more effective punching .

Then it happened so fast, all I saw was PW collapse like he had bee shot in slomo. Dramatic indeed, Tyson Punchout'ish

Williams should be fine but he won't be unless he starts fighting tall. I'm still pissed as I didn't expect the fight to be over so soon. I'm glad Martinez won but worry about where Williams will go from here and what he'll do as far as his style is concerned.

The majority thought Martinez won the first fight? Thought it was a bit split reaction on that. Martinez is great regardless.
