What have we lost since fights were dropped to 12 rounds?
Think of the great fights that have ended with both warriors having just a little more to give, or not.
Sugar Ray Leonard fights themself, demonstrate how this under talked about change has changed the king of sports.
If a twelve round fight, history would show that the Motor City Cobra dominated and virtually shut out americas darling.
Yet later, If a fifteen round fight, know intelligent boxing fan would say that SRL could have lasted another three wth Hagler.

HISTORY HAS BEEN DRAMATICALLY CHANGED. So much to discuss, how many different outcomes might we have. How many more great rounds might we have. Yet, how many dangerous situations have been averted.

Overall a good and necessary choice for safety of fighters.

    What we missed:

Ray Leonard not being able to do 15 with Hagler (I actually believe he deserved the decision he got but was absolutely ****ed after 12)

Chavez would have actually won the 1st fight with Taylor without richard steele.

Whitaker would have actually got the decision he deserved after twelve, when DLH shuts down 13-15.

    many many more.

They actaully did studies....I remember reading about them, and the numbers they came up with dont really support 15 round fights...I dont remember the number to the letter but I do remember something like 95% of the time that a fighter that was winning after the 12th won the fight, and something like only 10% of the fights ended after the 12 by ko with the guy behind winning...It really didnt happen that often that a guy behind won by knockout or stoppage after the 12th.

I think that 12 is good...

Thats intersting. I agree that twelve is good, but I do worry that at some point we will get 10 round title fights shoved down our throats. Hopefully MMA will keep the puritans busy and off boxings back.

I'd be for at least bumping it to 13 so judges couldn't easily score draws (theoretically anyway, in a normal fight barring abnormalities due to foul point deductions and dominant wide rounds)

We've lost the championship rounds, and all to satisfy the time-slots of TV networks.

The unfortunate removal of the championship rounds is one of the worst things that has happened since I began following boxing. I can't believe that any boxing fans support this ****. Must be the same one's who like it when refs stop fights before their natural conclusion. :patsch
