Good power, speed, stamina and movement. His defense can be improved to cover up for the chin problems.
hand speed plus i dont like the guy too much (the arrogance factor) but he does appear to have heart - been down twice and bounced back well
He looks well conditioned and proved he can go 12 rounds with St Clair, he's pretty tall and rangy for a lightweight, great handspeed, I wouldn't say great power as he hasn't proven it beyond domestic/European level but he's got enough, I think the lads got heart as when he got put down by Limond, he got straight back up and fought back and broke Limond's ear and jaw, again when he got put down by Gomez he was back up by 2 and shrugged it off and rallied to stop him. He needs to work on being able to keep his range and work off the jab and use his reach advantage, he did it fine against Gairy St Clair in what I believe was his best fight, but against guys like Gomez who apply constant pressure he needs to work on using the ring more and his reach to his advantage. He needs to work on his inside fighting, he can't seem to throw uppercuts on the inside and he gets caught with them and needs to learn to clinch. Obviously aswell he needs to work on his defence in terms of being able to keep his hands up and block punches aswell as slipping and weaving, could do with a little more head movement aswell as despite his reach advantages he seems to like fighting at mid-range and seems a little to easy to pick off with the jab with his lack of movement and the fact he fights within his opponents range.
he has got very good talent also he is good to watch. and he is also box office. he gets 6 million viewers a fight and this helps keep boxing mainstream and in the public eye when pay channels are diminshing the numbers of fans watching.
At first I giggled when I read this but its true. He also has a fan friendly style. But despite all that his offense is red hot, speed, combinations, throws punches from all angles, good footwork. He is being "made" by his promotors but he has a great package to work from. If he improves his defensive side, which I'm sure he will do, he will be the next big thing for sure. Let's just hope all the early success doesn't go to his head. He needs to be pitted against the Mexicans so he can learn to cover those holes.
id like to see him do well, he has such potential IMO, just needs to tighten up his defence, with his offensive skills, i honestly believe he could beat the best at 135 eventually
Same here, a huge fan of his since his Olympic days. Problem here is that he tends to just get careless as the fight goes and try hard enough to entertain the fans and leaves his self open in the process which calls for endless criticism. He has the power and speed to give anyone hell but just ignores all of that as the fight goes on. He might be able to afford that right now but sooner or later(as the Limmond/Gomez fights suggest) he'll get punished brutally for it and I really wouldn't want to see that. Seems like he's too much into Hamed's performances and wants to give the people something similar but in his own style. His team need to talk to him deeply about it and let him focus on winning first then entertaining and calling for unwanted criticism.
