What middleweights could emulate...

Mickey Walker's foray into the heavyweight divison?

I don't need the names of the middleweights that have actually fought at heavy....I want the names of middleweights,that possessed either the durability or skill set, who COULD have attempted it... against Walker's heavy weight opposition. :think

 

Perhaps Greb. Outside of that I dont know.

 

Greb (he already did basically), Hagler, Roy Jones, perhaps Monzon.

 

So you see Hagler beating say Jack Sharkey(Or even holding him to a draw???) I dont see it.

 

Walkers one interesting bugger. I think i have a little footage of the guy, must look at it.

James Toney. He grew into 190lb guy, but he was raised a middleweight. Anything over 190 is fat.

 

I don't think it's likely, but if i had to choose, i'd pick the names i mentioned. I'd give Jones a much better shot though, he could pull a Ruiz on Sharkey, especially considering Sharkey's lack of power.

 

I think a guy like Hopkins relies too much on his size. He's already a big man for a middleweight and of course that worked perfectly against the likes of De la Hoya and Trinidad.

Then again, for Monzon and Hagler it was a pretty important factor as well. Hence my best pick would be Jones.

 

None of them.Maybe Alex Ramos because of his power, but that's it.

 

You could never be sure unless they tried.

heavyweights are so much bigger, stronger and better now that very few could manage the feat in this day and age.

Jones, Jr and Toney cherry picked opponent(s)... and Toney with only middling results.
