I don't know what happened to Scrap Iron, but I can say without fear of contradiction that the man was never involved in a dull fight, win or lose. Quality :deal

Ayers is one of my favourite British fighters, and I got an e-mail from his mum once after I had a letter published in Boxing News about him. Class. Like to know what he's up to now. Met him after he KO'd Pablo Sarmiento in their first fight and was a quality guy. Hope he's doing good for himself.

I was thinking about Richie Evatt too the other day and wondered what became of him. Wasn't he the guy from Coventry who used to wear the tiger stripes?

The ones which got me stumped are Jason Matthews, Toks Owoh and the infamous disappearance of Eugene Maloney which nobody seems to like talking about.

yeah - Evatt had a real barnstormer against Junior Jones but ran out of steam late on, getting stopped.
He was never the same after that - maybe they threw him in with a world class fighter too early (a la Georgie Collins?)

Jason Matthews got banged up (if I remember rightly for giving his 'girlfriend' a right kicking)
A shame, 'cos he was an exciting fighter with lots of firepower.
Toks Owoh reminds me of Ajose Olusegun - a wasted talent.
Eugene Maloney... a real mystery. Something pretty bad must have gone off between him and his brother. It's like he never existed!

Delroy Bryan was a class fighter - tough and awkward.
No one wanted to fight him 'cos he was a decent puncher and could make an opponent look bad - the classic 'who needs him' fighter, in fact.
Hope he's not completely lost to the sport of boxing now - I'm sure he could teach a thing or two to budding students of 'The Noble Art.'

    God bless.

I always remember the great scrap richard evatt had with junior jones! what a great fight, michael ayers first fight with wayne rigby was a classic, i always think it was a shame shea neary and colind dunne both never got proper world title shots in there primes they were class fighters who seem to be forgoten about

All good fighters. Marvin Stone is still involved in the game as a trainer.
