I'm not sure if he does or doesn't, but I was thinking about Joe's style after Saturday nights fight, and Emanual Steward commented on some of Joes flurries and called them amateurish. It's shoe shining is what it is, a common tactic used in amature boxing throwing useless flurries that barely land to try and score points with the judges. Every time Joe Through one of his flurries the crowd went crazy like something major happened. Replays showed most of them doing little to nothing. However what was the impact on the judges? Hopkin's said he would not let Joe "out flare" him and didn't for the first 6 rounds. Those flurries are why so many people say he slaps. His straight single shots are good but he spends so much time flapping away. Now I saw Joe winning a close fight, because he was more active compared to Hopkins (Vegas Judging), but the scoring by the one judge was way off and ledderman needs to be fired by HBO. Lamply I could do without too, I am sick of punch stats this and that which if you listen to it can sway your opinion. Punch stats mean only so much. 5 glancing, slapping, or inn effective shots should not equal even one solid clean blow. so punch stats is just nothing more than a different camera angle to see an aspect of the fight, yet lamply will score fights based off of them. Ledderman the idiot who always talks about clean EFFECTIVE punching only gives Hopkins 3 rounds? The bottom line is this. Calzaghe is not a fraud, not a bum, he is a champ and a great fighter in his own right. However, I seriously dislike the fact that this will be his defining fight yet on TV NONE of the so called experts will mention that Cal was a champ in the same years as a PRIME Hopkins and a PRIME Jones yet failed to make the trip here to challenge them properly until now that they have aged. I mean Lennox Lewis beat a faded holyfield and a washed up Tyson, those were some of this biggest wins. However that was not lennox's fault, the circumstances led them to fight at those times. However what if Lennox never left England ever and Both Mike and Evander where active and in there prime years fighting in the US. Then only after both were used up did he finally decide to challenge. What would people think of Lewis? Hopkins is not used up but he is 43 and it is not hard to tell that he is a different fighter than 7 years back. I just was not impressed with Joe Saturday night despite the win. I know English fans will try and claim utter domination, reality it was a close fight. Joe's flurries were sloppy looking and amateurish. It reminds me of the guy from JackA$$ who always punches his fat dad with wild slapping shots.
