    Walcott was not in Louis's camp long ,he was a sparring partner for Joe for the first Schmeling fight in 1936 ,after their first two sessions, he abruptly quit.

    So it isn't Mr Cream.

    Noone has ever confirmed Mcall knocked down Tyson in sparring.

    Jeffries wasa long term sparring partner of Corbett, though I don't know of him dropping Gentleman Jim.

    Smith put Jack Johnson through the ropes, but I don't think he floored him,Jack said Smith was a monster hitter.Plus Smith was not a sparring partner for Johnson long term
    The man I am thinking of came later.

    Have you read "in this Corner" when Smith talks about his fight with Jess Willard. Don't remember it exactly but he said he hit Willard with a shot and ripped his ear clean off and then matter of factly "of course the gloves were loaded". Willard didn't even blink. Always makes me laugh :lol:

    I need a copy of that book. I remember I kept seeing it in the bookshop when I was younger, but I'd always walk out with another boxing book and tell myself I'd get it next time. And some of the books I bought then weren't even good.

    Do yourself a favour and get it. It is a great read, all them old fighters in their own words and times.

    Yes great stuff.Smith used electrical tape,and it really works, I know.

    TOXIE HALL,sparring partner for Marciano, he knocked Rocky down when he was preparing for Cockell, he also took a dec off of Ezzard Charles.
