Tommy Morrison, James Bonecrusher Smith, Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, Trevor Berbick, Mike Weaver, Tim Witherspoon, Gerrie Coetzee...

    Pinklon Thomas fought them all.

Chuvalo was stopped but never dropped. Cobb took the best Earnie Shavers could offer square on the chin and didn't budge.

And I was saying Mercer fought some big punchers, learn to read and comprehend.

Shavers was an old man who had been stopped by Mercado right before. And you saidThat those guys Cobb, Chuvalo, Mercer you mentioned had better chins than Ali. COMPREHEND? Watch the fights and the fighters. Or live thru it all as I did and don't just read or watch 1 or 2 fights. You were wrong.
It is not better to take a beating and get stopped but not dropped, than to take the punches and win, most of the time by ko. None of them faced either the quality or quantity of p[unchers that Ali did. Ali faced probably the greatest challenges in the history of the division and stayed not only on his feet, but as champion.:rasta

Not getting into the worry Ali's chin wasn't the best, but Cobb, McCall and Chuvalo have the majority of the forum agreeing they had fantastic chins, and there are many factors involved if we want to compare them chin only to Ali.

Their chins are beyond reproach IMO.

James Bonecrusher Smith, Marvis Frazier, Iron Mike Tyson, Neon Leon Spinks, Terrible Tim Witherspoon, Tony TNT Tubbs, Larry Holmes, Axel Shulz, Bruce Seldon, Donovan Razor Ruddock, Michael Dokes, Chris Byrd, Vitali Klitchsko.

Jose Ribalta wasnt afraid to take on anyone. Shame he never became the champ at any stage.

Ali wasn't taking the punches flush like they were, and he got decked a few times. Just because Shavers wasn't prime anymore doesn't mean he still wasn't a massive hitter. I never said the people I mentioned took on as many big hitters as Ali, but I said they had better chins. Ali had a great chin, but it wasn't the best.

    Pinky at least was champ.

And Neon Leon, Tubbs, Schulz and Byrd hardly qualify as punchers.

    Holmes:

    Williams
    Norton
    Shavers x 2
    Weaver
    Cooney
    Witherspoon
    Bonecrusher Smith
    Mercer

Williams, Weaver, Shavers, Smith and Cooney were all monster punchers.

Holyfield fought Tyson twice, Foreman, Lewis twice, Bowe three times. Pretty good resume of big punchers there :good
