Divac is cool, but his scorecards amaze me.

For instance, having Jones-Trinidad a draw. Or Marquez-Pacquiao II: 9-3 in favor of JMM.

With rooster, he's just trying to get a rise out of people, and I find it rather humorous.

Jones/Trinidad a draw? I wasn't aware of that one. Wow. I knew about the JMM/Pac score. I actually had JMM winnning as well, but by a single point.

Anyway, I respect that at least Divac has his own opinions and supports them, rather than parroting the thoughts of others or just drive-by flaming.

I remember in the Legendary Nights of Chavez-Meldrick Taylor . . . one of the commentators said something like - Meldrick could have ran from Chavez and won on points but he was a tough fighter and didnt want to give Chavez the satisfaction of running from him -

Pernell gave him that satisfaction the whole fight, Chavez said afterword "He didnt come here to fight"

I scored the fight 7 rounds to 5 in favor of Swea....and that's being generous to Chavez. Don't get me wrong Julio is a legend but he was beaten that night.

    Oh...dear...Lord.

I have no words for that, really.

As for Rooster -- you make a fair point. Thing is, although his posts always seem deliberately provocative, I always get the sense that there's a grain of real belief there too. It's somehow tongue-in-cheek but holding certain elements of sincerity at the same time. I think he mostly does it to annoy people, but some of what he says about Leonard -- if not most of what he says -- seems to have real belief lingering over it.

If I'm wrong and he really does do it purely to get a rise out of people, then I suppose that still makes him a moron for investing (literally) months upon months of time knowingly talking bull**** on a 'net forum.

I'm sure he dislikes Leonard and may feels he's overrated, and that Hagler deserved the decision (I personally have little problem with any of those arguments), but I don't think he actually believes stuff like "Leonard was in his prime when he fought Terry Norris".

Rooster believes everything he says. I have argued with him enough to know that, even when he seems to be trolling with his over the top statements. I think he's just a lonely, delusional person.

"Outclassed" and "Domination" ain't my words and are indeed hyperbolic in the context of Chavez/Whitaker.

The way I remember the (somewhat uneventful) fight, there were episodes of Whitaker's brilliance but not enough to speak of domination.

I had Whitaker ahead (by 3 maybe 4 rounds, I don't remember exactly) though some of those rounds were close and/or difficult to score. Some could have gone the other way.

    That's exactly it bro..
Some dude's in this thread make it seem like Sweat Pea BEAT Chavez.
Whitaker didn't BEAT Chavez he out fenced him.
(Pernell couldn't punch out of a wet paper bag as a WW)
Pea should have got the Pts victory, he didn't I can live with it.
    Still a boring fight...

Whitaker drastically changed the Hurtado fight with one left hand, and rocked Chavez in round 8 with a left hand.

Whitaker always had respectable power with his left when he more behind it.

    He's a sausage.
