You got hit cleaner and more often , not harder.

Lets not even think of an opponent, lets simply put some sucker in front of both hands down unmoving. Shavers is hitting them harder.

I am a massive fan of Foreman's power, but Shavers is, well, Shavers.

I think this debate is a bit like the Pavlik-Abraham debate that went on for quite some time in the general forum. At 160 Pavlik has a higher KO ratio against better opposition than Abraham. He is simply a better KO artist than AA. However, it's pretty clear that Arthur generates more one punch power. I think this debate is a simlar case.

I believe Shavers was a better one hit ko artist and Foreman was more of a pummel ya til you drop due to crushing blows artist. Ali had balls getting in the same ring to fight them.

I would disagree that he was a better KO artist. Foreman KO'd far better fighters, and more top quality fighters, than Shavers did.

As a one-shot, power hitter, Shavers is better, but that ability has only marginal influence in winning fights against the best.

Yeah as a one shot artist Shavers is better but off topic Foreman's chin was better.

But when? Ken was hit by Foreman several years before Earnie took him out. Norton did provide color commentary for Shavers-Williams and other bouts Earnie had before they actually stepped in the ring together. Was Kenny originally guesstimating that Foreman hit harder based upon his ringside observations of Shavers as a broadcaster?

Leroy Caldwell was knocked out by Foreman, Lyle and Shavers. He famously said, "Foreman hit about the same as Lyle. Shavers hit harder than both put together." Earnie put Young on the deck, and Jimmy could take a tremendous punch. He's the only one to drop Ellis for the count. Once Shavers hit his stride, only Jerry Quarry seemed completely immune to his power, able to walk through his shots with no ill effect. (Jerry told Don Dunphy immediately afterward that Earnie never hit him, and did not find out differently until he saw the tape the following day. He did say in 1970 that Mac Foster, "Can hit like heck, man! Whew!") Based on his experiences sparring with Foreman, Quarry would have probably said that George hit him harder than Shavers, but again, how could he rate the power of somebody he didn't even realize he was hit by?

Surprised Foreman's getting as many votes as he's received, with the overwhelming consensus among their common opponents in Earnie's favor.

If Ali, Lyle, and Norton say that Shavers hit harder than Foreman, that seals it for me.
