Jennings that is. And what has he done to deserve a shot? I know it's difficult, but try to judge him on his skill and resume and not on the side of the pond he is from.

In reference to the original question, the WBO knows Cotto will pick a guy that he should beat quite comfortably after his loss to Margo and therefore they will have a well known star holding their belt. Thats my guess anyway.

Resume: Terrible. Nothing beyond British class, its arguable as to whether he's even the best British welterweight now Kell Brook has emerged.

Skill: Not too bad, compared to the last WBO export, Lockett. Reasonable jab, Lockett could not even spell jab. Overall solid boxing skills. Bit upright, easy target to the body. Good stamina usually. No power at all, so he usually fights going backwards which will prepare him well for this fight, but he throws quite a lot of punches while he moves.

They will be his main problems, no power to worry Cotto from coming forward, and a very upright technique that will mean he is pissing blood for weeks from body shots if he lasts for a period.

They will be scraping Jennings off the canvas after Cotto has finished with him. My guess is that they are looking to rebuild Cotto's confidence in a big way, so they make the fight for a title so the he can be champion again, and pick someone he will serve up a beating to. He'll take his time and get back into the groove, but after 7 or 8 rounds expect Cotto to turn up the heat and dispose of Jennings inside the distance.

Jennings fights out of Liverpool, so he must be tough. Looking at his record on boxrec he seems a step above Lockett. Never been knocked out and has been hitting with some power lately. Unless he fights the fight of his life and Cotto is wrecked from the beating he took against Margo, Jennings will lose.
