Jazzo.. You sound like a smug phaggot over here

Would you expect anymore from a MMA with a wrestling backround? Did you forget that James Toney, master boxer to some, didn't make it outta the first?

Those 25-26 year olds dipping their toes into MMA are coming from high success in other combat sports.. Couture didn't even turn pro until his mid 30s.

You think so? All the tomatoe cans with losing records, showing up to lose and for a paycheck, fighting 10 times every 5 years in boxing are professionals.. Or just in the bag? You think all the crooked judges, promoters and refs? The trainer with plaster in his fighters gloves? Throwing down Puerto Rican flags on press tours? The fighter who sucker punched his opponent reaching for a handshake post fght? Mayweather rantng about Pac fetching him some sushi?

Two decent posts in this thread.. Another from the guy with the avy of a kid in the superhero outfit. Why do you salty *******s always have to make circle jerk threads about why you love boxing and despise MMA? You guys are reaching.. Posting in here no less.

I hate to dig this garbage up, but you guys are sorry, salty boxing fans. Get over yourselves and the steaming locomotive that is MMA..

Uneducated? And what exactly is your education status? You certainly don't seem particularly intelligent.

Rednecks? So soft racism is fine now, and you would have no problem describing boxing fans in a similar way?

Who cares what Brock Lesnar would do in a boxing match with 10 oz gloves? Is that the way people actually fight? Boxing is a great sport, my first love, but idiots like you are turning it into the next horse racing, a sport for old men who can't adjust to a changing world.

Both MMA and boxing are sports designed to test peoples fighting ability, MMA simply tests a wider and more realistic array of skills.

The people having success early in their careers in MMA is a result of 2 things: first they are not fed a steady diet of cans once a month in fights that are so one sided they might as well be fixed; second, they aren't starting from scratch, they have a background in a sport related to MMA, such as kickboxing, wrestling, BJJ, or Judo.

Good way to get some flaming reactions :p

but I ain't sure about the intelect/degrees argument, I wont do any kind of reasearching but in the intro of the Franklin/Liddell fight I learned that both had degrees:

Liddell: Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business/Accounting in 1995 at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (from wikipedia)
Franklin: Earned a bachelor's degree in [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics"]mathematics[/ame] and later earned a master's degree in education at the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Cincinnati"]University of Cincinnati[/ame],[2] and taught mathematics at the [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oak_Hills_High_School"]Oak Hills High School[/ame] in Cincinnati, Ohio. (wiki too)

perhaps there's more, perhaps not, but i hardly believe every boxers are intelectual geniuses. James Toney being the perfect example that there are idiots in every sports.

mma and boxing aren't dying anytime soon, just love both!

    Bute/GSP FTW!
