Wilder has many haters. Why you hate Wilder? Is it his glass jaw? record? thin legs?

The hype, the six years of facing stiffs and then getting an undeserved title shot.

I don't hate him because of his glass jaw though. He's gonna provide some excitement when that fragile mandible shatters!!

I don't think people hate Wilder. They hate the hype built around him. One of the really sad aspects of boxng, unlike just about any other sport, is the personality behind the fighter. Who cares? Announcers are quick to say how charismatic a fighter is, how people love being around him, how he has a great story, how he had it tough when growing up. This is all about selling the product.

The kind of fighter I like is the guy who goes in the ring and gets it done. No hype, no fanfare, no politicking, none of the BS.

Wilder is just a product of the hype. To his credit, he understands what is expected of him, so he talks and smiles and hypes and denigrates and laughs and mugs, etc.

It is just the opposite of what most of society respects. Guys like Barry Sanders, who went out there day in and day out and did his job, did it better than any other guy who ever did it before and then quit before he broke the all time record because he didn't want to be hyped. He would have easily broken it but he is a modest man with incredible talent. That, in a nutshell, is why people "hate" Wilder. But, to be clear, it is not Wilder per se, it is the symbol he represents, the opposite of a Barry Sanders.

Exactly. Wilder is everything that is wrong with boxing. The hype, the overprotected, padded record, the shameful behavior, etc. etc.

I didn't like or hate him until I saw how he acted at the end of the fight! Like a juvenile thug screaming and beating his chest for 5 minutes straight, acting like some caged animal.

It's his attitude of entitlement and his unrepentant adultery and horechokery that make me dislike him.

If he straightens his act up, doesnt choke out no more hores, I'll come around if he's not exposed before he clean himself up.

As for now.....Im happy for him to have accomplished his goal and succeeding in fulfilling his promise to his daughter.

If he doesnt hide behind Al GAYMAN and actually fights top guys, wins, and remains faithful to his family, he'll make a fan for life.:think

He's a guy with a name. That's enough to be disliked. Just about every fighter has their detractors. People can create all sorts of reasons not to like someone.

    1. That's not everything that is wrong with boxing.

    2. In Wilder's defence, he can't really be blamed for the hype, overprotection and padded record imo.

His personality rubs some the wrong way---but what do you expect, you're not going to make everybody happy.

Some don't understand his development process. He's not Vasyl Lomachenko or Chris Byrd. He did not grow up in a boxing gym and he was not raised by a father who is a boxing trainer/ former fighter. He may be an Olympic bronze medalist but he did that while being little more than a novice class amateur fighter which makes the Olympic medal a bit more impressive IMO. He needed time and work to develop and he's still a work in progress hence the limited opposition but that process is hardly anything limited to Wilder. The same criticism could be aimed at Stiverne, Fury and you could even go back and read old boxing magazines that said the same thing about Mike Tyson, Gerry ****ey etc.

Good luck to him, not a fan, but his win was clear enough.

I didn't know this about him. Why is it so many of these guys do this ****? Now I have a better understanding as to why he is disliked. Total BS a guy does this. Talks about his daughter, how much he cares, holds himself out as being a sensitive, caring person and then you find out he has done something like this. I don't give a hoot whether the guy has *** with *****s. Who cares? But when he tries to choke a woman to death, that is another story. Like Adonis Stevenson, I cannot support a guy who does something like this.

Who was hyping him up. Last night was his first major headline on cable network.
There were less than 5000 people in the hall that he was fighting in last night. So tell me who is hyping Wilder?:patsch
