Why was Holyfield quiet?

Only thing I will say against Holyfield is - why didn't he celebrate near and at the end of the 12th? Shake his fists, hold his arms up, yell out one of his favourite songs, whatever. He just gave Valuev a hug and quietly strolled back to his corner.

I reckon it's very likely that those judges gave Valuev the 12th, and that one swing round would've got Holyfield the belt, even with those poor blind judges at ringside. It's an old veteran move and one that Holyfield's used before, so why did he go so quietly into the night?

Shouldn't have had to do that, of course. Should've been a clear UD.
But Holyfield didn't even seem all that bothered, even after the cards were read out.
I'd have been practically eating the stuffing out of the turnbuckles.

Don't see what he gains from it unless he was plain and simple paid off.

According to the BBC report he did say he disagreed with the judges. Dunno if anyone seen him get interviewed(?)

He was calm in the interview, saying he saw the fight differently than the judges and something like 'I hit him more than he hit me'. He said he's going back to the drawing board to see what's next, though I don't believe I heard him say he'll definitely fight again. Maybe the drawing board will say 'retire' this time.

I don't like to think he was in on this. I can't believe that.

Yep, as soon as the bell rang there was that eerie feeling of an expected robbery. Poor *******, nothing in boxing is more heart wrenching than seeing a fight end and the clear winner having that resigned look on there face.

Cheers - I hope he retires this time but that would be a bad way to lose your last fight. It might give give him encouragement to carry on.

He said afterwards he thought he did enough, but it's down to the judges to decide.

I thought Valuev fought like he was drugged. Did they give Holy sleeping tablets too?

He has financial problems, I wouldn't be surprised if he took a bribe. The only problem is that why would you put on a show whooping someone's ass if you took a bribe ? That doesn't make any sense

    One word...REMATCH.

Unfortunately, there will probably be one.
So in the minds of fixers, they get to do this all again, which means they get paid again.

I think it's safe to say that both men's asses remained soundly unwhupped.

But Holy still deserved the nod.

I didn't see the fight but from what I heard, Holyfield was clearly winning. If it was obvious that he was winning, then don't you think it to be unlikely that he was bribed ? If I was bribed, I would try my best to look less than my competition.
