It wasn't due to the cut. Prior to the fight Bob was saying publicly that Tyson wasn't fighting over here in December.
LSC fight aside it's a pretty good card. Think Wilder rinses him a fair bit earlier but it'll likely be fun along the way
Agree with most of the posts here saying Wilder finishes him earlier this time. I don't think Ortiz can better his performance from the first fight. I think Wilder will stop him within 6 rounds.
It's probably not a popular opinion but what the hell... I think Ortiz is a straw man, an artificially inflated fighter who looks on the surface like a credible contender, but when you start looking into his record it starts to fall apart. He's not really fought anyone, he came out of the Cuban scene but he was never their preeminent hw. I think he was aggressively marketed as this bogeyman of the division and for those who were subject to the marketing that's what he became. In reality he's long past prime, was never as good as made out and has simply been used as a chess piece on Haymon and sulaimans attempt to construct a Tyson for the 21st century. Tldr, a lot of us fight fans have been played but will never admit it.
No sure i agree. Ortiz is a very good fighter at least he was anyway. His style is useless against guys that can move with a reach advantage tho. Thats why wilder picked him. Their first decent oponnent but one that struggles to fight against what wilder has. If you lead on ortiz...you,ll pay for it tho. He took jennings out by letting jennings lead. Pretty sure jennings landed more than ortiz in that fight and yet jennings took a beating. They encourage you to lead....and pick you off as you do. Wilder and his team we,re smart enough...not to lead. I still say he can cause wilder problems tho. If he believes what half the forums saying....that he,ll get it done early easily....he could end up getting himself in trouble. Ortiz too skilled to be treated like breazeale or stiverne imo anyway.
(Holler) Possibly, but there's a huge amount of amateur fights behind him too. Had he not put Wilder in some trouble in that round and had the doc not given Wilder an extended rest, then we could say he wasn't that good. He was well below that performance in his last fight though and time has ticked on, so it should be another Stiverne job. Saw a pic of him recently and while the muscles are evident, so is an old man's body.
Let’s also remember how uncomfortable Wilder is with southpaws. He almost had Wilder out of there, and on another night that fight would have been stopped. I enjoy watching Wilder but this is a very dangerous fight for him to take. I think Wilder could get starched here if he’s not careful.
It's hard to know Ortiz's level because as you rightly said, his resume is pretty awful. However, we know he's decent and gave Wilder a good knock before. At worst Wilder brutally KO's him which is always entertaining. At best we have ourselves a fight.
