Wilder vs ATGs?

Johnson was very quick and a technical boxing genius.

Ok, imagine what Wilder would do with those 3-4 oz horsehair gloves? He wears 10 oz gloves made of synthetic leather and he KOs fighters that are bigger than him. Even a glancing blow from Wilder (4 oz or 10 oz) would be enough to hurt Johnson.

 

The issue for Wilder is he would be facing a much higher skilled fighter who would also be able to stop his opponent with one punch at any given time. Understand Wilder is a nothing. He has not proven in any way that he ranks anywhere close to the ATG hwt champions. Having a right hand punch does not make any fighter a great fighter. It takes much more The art and science of boxing.

Johnson with 3-4 oz gloves could KO Wilder easily. It’s Wilder not Johnson who would not be used to being hit with such gloves.

A one trick pony is not beating prime Jack Johnson. Johnson was renowned for his defensive prowess. Wilder only for right hand power.

Grow up and learn boxing history. It’s like having a discussion with a child.

 

Oh and by the way Wilder is not hwt champion of the world. His paper title is just about but not quite as worthless as you.

Jack Johnson of course was hwt champion of the world from 1908 to 1915 and universally considered the greatest defensive fighter ever to hold that title.

Johnson’s defensive skills were spoken at great lengths during his time up until the present day. A wonderful technical fighter. Greatest at blocking, feinting and had a wonderful left jab.

I'd favor every single fighter on that list, but there's a reason we have the cliche "puncher's chance" and if he actually fought all of them I'd expect him to beat 3 minimum, six tops. I just wouldn't favor him over any given individual.

 

If you watch the fight there is a point at which Johnson, very, very obviously drags Ketchel to his feet and holds him up when he's about to go down, but it's equally obvious that Ketchel is trying his best the whole time. If there was an agreement, I seriously doubt Ketchel was in on it.
