As I've noticed a few threads doing a top 10 wins for a particular fighter I was wondering if someone could do one for Wilfredo Gomez. I recently had some interest in him and only know little about the super bantam and featherweight divisions at the time (with the exception of Sanchez and Nelson of course). I would appreciate it if somone could give Gomez's top 10 wins and a little reason why they were so good. I'm trying to improve my historical knowledge of the smaller guys and there era's.

    Thanks

1.) TKO 5 Carlos Zarate: Zarate was coming off of a gargantuan knockout streak and he was clearly the best bantamweight in the world, and recognized as one of the finest fighters in the world pound for pound. Today he is regarded by some as the greatest bantamweight of all time, with few pugilistic peers who present a resume to challenge that claim. Gomez lite him up like the Vegas strip at night, straffing him with hard shots the first two rounds before scoring three KDS in the 4th, finishing the show in the 5th. Gomez demonstrated his stunning power as well as a considerable ability to anticipate and slip punches.

2.) KO 14 Lupe Pintor: Pintor beat Zarate on a dubius decision and when he decided to step up to 122 to challenge Gomez, many regarded it as a suicidal move, despite Pintors granite chin, remarkable stamina, and power punch. In a grueling war of attrician, Gomez flattened Pintor with anunforgitable surge of punches, breaking Pintor.

3.) TKO 6 Juan Meza: Despite Meza's considerable flaws, no one denies his knockout power and resiliance. Gomez box rings around Gomez scoring power punches, ocassionally planting his feet to trade shot, cruising to an impressive finish.

4.) UD Juan Laporte: Fighting in front of a crowd of screaming fans Gomez fulfilled his dream of becoming the featherweight champion with a consistent, methodical performance. Not vintage Gomez, but the result was a dominating performance one of the better feather weights of the era. Laporte was only stopped once, late in his career against Zack Padilla.

5.) KO 9 Alberto Davila: Future champion Davila was known for his cagey, tricky style. Gomez consistently pressured Davila by moving forward throughout while Davila pushed back, boxing as well as he could. Ultimately Gomez's power caught up with him resulting in a solid win.

6.) Don Kyun Kim TKO 12: Kim was a good little fighter who might have established himself if he had fought in a differant era. He dropped Gomez 30 seconds in and challenged the relatively inexperience Gomez before falling in the 12th.

7.) W MD Rocky Lockridge: Lockredge was on a good little streak and Gomez looked shell shocked from the Azuma Nelson fight with Gomez prevailing by an unpopular decision. Nevertheless, with Gomez' desire waning it represents a solid win.

8.) KO 13 Leo Cruz: Cruz had beaten Pintor and with win the title in a fight with Sergio Palma later. Don't know much about the fight but considering Cruz' solid credentials its not a bad win.

9.) TKO 3 Royal Kobayashi: Never seen the fight but Kobayashi went 5 with Arguello and 10 with Duran.

10.) TKO 2 Jacinto Fuentes: Fuentes famously held Gomez to a draw in a debut fight. In the rematch Gomez destoryed him using a barrage of devastating punches to sink Fuentes in decisive fashion.

Yum didn't really challenge him outside of that flash knockdown in the opening round, though. One of Gomez's most dominant showcases otherwise. He showed off his masterful technical skills in that one as well as any other.
