Would Leonard have had the confidence along with the heart to pull off what he did against Hearns in their first fight?

Tommy did so well in that fight if only it was a 12 round fight.

The Duran fights taught Ray the whole game. In the first Duran fight he fought Duran's fight and still Duran could not stop him, and Duran won a decision. Ray knew if he boxed it would be easy and he boxed and outclassed Duran, which told Ray to focus on the whole game and to fight his fight. So had he not had the Duran experience he might have lost to Hearns by decision.
