Both camps are negotiating a possible fight in early 08. Does Steve Forbes stand a chance?

oh man, no way will Forbes win this one.

Forbes should go after Rees or Torres.

I would rather see him fight Malignaggi too, but I think he wants to take the safe route so he can fight Hatton next summer perhaps.

Actually, the reason why this fight is in the works is that Witter and Forbes are Golden Boy fighters. GBP would rather have the belt change hands in-house.

This will be a boring fight, with Witter probably winning by at least 4 or 5 rounds.

i think forbes workrate could make it interesting.

i'd tip witter on pts though.

Witter would win this handsomely on points, or maybe even late stoppage.

Witter would definitely win this - no doubt in my mind

steve forbes is getting sat on here.

the guy is a dangerous dude mayb enot much a of a power puncher but his workrate body shots combo's and great defence with a natural counterpunching personality.
which against witter who is a bouncy hard hittter who just lacks the accuracy to land a shot i think could be good meat for forbes to work with.

i think it might be a much more exciting fight than peoiple are expecting.

Witter takes it easily. Forbes has a low enough output and weak enough fists that Witter actually would make it interesting. It seems to me that he's making an effort to become more exciting, and hence more marketable. I wouldn't be surprised if he faces a series of guys who aren't big hitters so he can raise his profile and maybe eventually force that Hatton fight if he stays at 140. Torres is the much bigger threat to Witter than Malinaggi though.
