    i need to work on my defense, everything else is fine but my defense is abit leaky beacuse id rather use my attack as defence or reflexes.

    but obviously i wanna be an all round fighter so other than sparing how else would you suggest i improve it?

    thanks

    The best defense is a good offense.
    Of course its going to depend on what defense area you are talking about, are you using footwork, slipping, or guard? Your trainer can give you some pads to fire at, then ask him to return with something so that you can incorporate some defense after a few shots.

    its more my guard, my footwork is good, i try and shadow now and then just working on keeping my hands high, but when i start sparing i get to cocky and drop them. i still rarely get hit and if i do its never flush, but i think thats my main down fall and wanna work on it.
    i think i need some drills more than anything to keep me occupied and work mainly on defence.

    Hi!

    Work with another boxer and do some defensive exersices. for example he throws a jab and you parry, slip or block it. Do it in a pace where you actually can practice this things, then when you get better on it you can rase the speed on these exercises.
    All the best

    i did reply to this but its not come on for some reason????

    its for a few reasons;

    1) when im tired in a fight and my reflexs arent as good
    2) so im not one dimensional,
    3) i can work a guy out whilst defending if my attack aint working as well as id hope

    well movement is important so you can counjter with good shots try watching some mayweather when he is a super feather lightweigth for countering whilst moving

    also head movement with a guard is important

    try parrying and blocking
