well i was watching an awesome fight today.
jirov vs toney. what a war.

and all jirovs corner kept instructing him was, "you gotta keep beating on that sucka, man!" there was no boxing advice, it was awful.
and against a guy like toney, it was total suicide to try and run in!!!

I remember Tex Cobb on a talk show saying: "Sometimes when you're in the corner your trainer tells you some really profound suff; like don't let him hit you!" That guy was funny as hell.

If he had fought more technically rather than rushing in head first, he would not have got KTFO. He was a sitting duck in that last round, because he had zero head movement and just dived in, even a boxer far more limited than Floyd would have knocked him out.

His performance in that last round, was far worse than fighting in the correct manner and losing on points. Ricky didnt use his brain, and came in head first with no movement- that is why he lost so badly and KTFO.

The fight was lost, by Ricky consistently not implementing the movement to get inside tactic that he had worked on in training round after round. Diving in head first like an amateur doesnt beat even an average pro boxer when you are behind on points, and certainly not the most skilled counter puncher p4p of his generation. Do you agree?

In general you are correct, as a hypothetical situation.

However, in this specific case I am right.:deal

was it Correa in Bika's corner in the Codrington fight?
whoever it was, they went on for 55 seconds about how he can get him with an overhand right when Codrington throws a jab, then just as Bika is going out for the next round he screams 'get him with the left hook'.

Mayweather Snr in DLH-Vargas......'look man, just go out there and knock this mother****er out' right after Oscar weathered a first round storm.

ronnie Shield to Forrest in the first Mayorga fight-"do not back up on this man!"

And then in the rematch all he told him to do was jab and box.

McGirt telling Gatti to use his jab against Floyd... he wouldve been better off to tell him to throw everything including the kitchen sink.
