Archie Moore noted that Foreman was trying to wear down Ali's arms through much of that fight. Sheer stupidity: working on someone's arms, in severe heat, when they have better stamina.

I belive garcias plan for margo was terrible, to "block".......margo is not a blocker, he is a seek and destroy type and having him train to block w sparring gloves and then sending him off to war with 8oz gloves was a bad move.....did you see the way pacs shots would enter his defense?str8 down the mid, it makes a whole lot of dif when you block w sparring gloves for your whole training camp and then when you block w8oz gloves.

Hagler's plan against Duran was probably worse. But he won that fight.

"Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million. "

Mayweather didn't retire to avoid anybody. And the guys you listed aren't even close to Mayweather in terms of defense.

I disagree about Khan vs. Maidana. Khan boxed pretty well for the most of the fight, as it came later in the fight, he got more sloppy and got caught. I don't really think it was a gameplan issue as much as it was a focus and fatigue issue.

You're right. It wasn't a gameplan issue it was that Khan's execution of it didn't go so well. Maidana was showing him no respect but Khan should not have put himself in the position to take so much uppercuts and overhand rights. Standing in front of a puncher is a bad idea.

Another example of a bad idea, Stevens following Dirrell and not doing much of anything.

Arguello vs Fernandez, worst thing was that this fight screwed up a potential match between Arguello and Duran.

Good on Moore for picking up on it because I think most people wonder what the hell he's doing.

I know George was never the most technical guy you'd see but if he'd picked his shots the fight was his.

Mind you Ali can take some credit, "is that all you got George?".

gatti vs floyd is the one that stands out to me.
conn vs louis, standing and trading was crazy!
hatton vs pac, didn't give him enough respect
hopkins vs taylor, gave him too much respect (history has shown this to be true#0
mayorga vs forrest, winky, oscar. taking flush shots so consistently made great watching, but was such a poor tactic.
