I always here Froch babling on about how he would beat everyone when he is nothing more than a glorified journeyman and his constant rambling about how he is a bigger name than guys like Hopkins in the UK is just lies. Personaly from my expierence I only know 1 casual fan who knows about Froch yet pretty much every casual fan I know seems to know Hopkins and Roy Jones. The thing is the American market is important as well but still I would love to see Calzaghe fight Froch just mainly because I want to see Calzaghe get another KO and he is the only realistic opponent I would give Calzaghe a 75% chance of stopping

Froch seems to have a good chin, and Calzaghe pebbledashes away but rarely has enough on his shots (thanks to hand injuries) to knock top guys out.

Calzaghe winning is one thing, knocking Froch out? I'd have to lay real small odds on that, unless Pascal reveals someone unforseen about Froch's durability.

wide ud to calzaghe is almost a guaranteed result.
most people who know what they are talking about will agree with this.

    Incorrect.

Calzaghe has very good power, look at his earlier fights he actually used to be a banger.

    HOWEVER

He's been forced to adapt his style because of his hands (its actually his wrists by the way) and subsequently doesnt put much into his shots. He's admitted himself he doesnt put anywhere near what he used to in his shots now.

Thats one of the reasons I rate Calzaghe so highly, he's had to overcome potential career-ending problems and adapated to them so well he's actually become better.

    Amazing.

Calzaghe has gone the distance in six of his last seven fights (the only opponent he has stopped in that time was Peter Manfredo:D )

Add to this the fact that Froch has a very good chin:deal

Result: Froch can win a round or two, but will generally be overwhelmed with workrate. Calzaghe UD12 (something like 118-110).

Also, I wouldn't discount the possibility of Froch scoring a flash kd, which would obviously make the scorecards a tad more respectable.

i'm aware of that and it all leads to the fact that:

    "Calzaghe has no power"

it doesn't matter if he had it a decade ago, the point is....his power is not there when he fights

if Margarito reallly has fast hands, but he only choses to throw slow punches......then i'm not gonna say he has great handspeed, because the only thing that matters is what he shows inside the ring

thats like saying "Amir Khan actually has a granite jaw, but he twisted his neck wrong, so he cant take punches like he used to"

or "Malignaggi has KO power in his right hand", it means **** if you never see it

Calzaghe used to be a wrecking machine until he suffered multiple hand injuries.

Nigel Benn fought 21 rounds with Eubank and didn't score a legitimate knockdown, Calzaghe decked him in the first.

OK Eubank was faded by then as opposed to prime, but anyone who could deck him must have had something.

Pretty obviously not. He would beat Froch, but he wouldn't stop him. Calzaghe can't stop anyone now, any power he ever had has completely evaporated with age. I was open-mouthed with shock that he couldn't even put the corpse of Roy Jones in serious trouble, never mind floor him once, despite landing literally hundreds of clean head shots. Calzaghe is pound-for-pound one of the most feeble-punching world champions in the game just now, and that's no slight on him, he is still one of the best all-round fighters.

A wrecking machine. Hmmm. TWO actual KOs and 30 TKOs in 32 stoppages in 46 wins. ZERO KOs and 11 TKOs in 11 stoppages in 24 world title fights. What a wrecking machine indeed.

Steve Collins had dropped an active Eubank in a real battle, so Calzaghe dropping a semi-retired version fighting on short notice two years later is no great feat.

Calzaghe would have a small but significant chance of stopping Froch on a TKO. 10-15% chance, in my view. Most likely, it would be another lacying, because Calzaghe would rather torture him for 12 rounds than put everything in his punches to stop him. Since Froch is a puncher, Calzaghe would make sure to minimize risk throughout the fight, especially at the end. Calzaghe UD 120-108.
